A Week of Thanksgiving and Specials from Jodi Ohl

Happy Early Thanksgiving!

I hope life is treating you well and you are healthy, happy and surrounded by those you love!

It's been a whirlwind few months as you can probably tell by my blogging absence (something I vow to do better with in the New Year).  Tons of travel, several classes and the biggest news of all, I have a new Granbaby-Elena, who was born on October 30th.  I was blessed my son and daughter in law allowed me to be in for the whole birth, what a miracle!

Shortly there after, I shot a short video for a new project coming up in the new year-more details on that later, did a weekend of painting demonstrations at Art of the Carolinas last week, and now I'm rolling into working on holiday events, small art, new collections, a big article for the spring and many other special new things that are all to revealed in the next few weeks!

I know time is precious so I will just leave you today with a few highlights of what is to come. As my valued readers, I want you to be among the first to know when I have specials and new products so here is what's on the agenda!

11/20- 11/27  Free shipping!  Signed copies of my book, Abstracts in Acrylic and Ink along with a commemorative postcard.

PS-some new art and gifts  will be added this week!!

Ohh...BTW-, while I'm finished traveling for the year,  my next away workshop will be in New Mexico, hosted by Annie Hooten.  Two classes spanning 3 days.

Flowing Features-Evening workshop
2 Day Zen Houses class

For more information, please contact Annie by clicking

Rest assured-I have more great events coming, lots of NEW art to be loaded in my shop,  special deals and new project that expands on my year long stint as a guest columnist at Cloth Paper Scissors.  Those details and more will be unveiled over the next few weeks so be sure to stay tuned!

In the mean time, thank you so much for following my art, learning creative techniques with me and for your overall friendship as support.

I'm blessed beyond measure for it all.

Fondly,

Jodi Ohl

I'm Giving Away 2100 worth of Paintings!!

Congratulations--our Two Winners of this fundraiser are Lillian Reitz and Kathy Totterdale!   Lillian was the first winner and chose Development as her artwork so Kathy will be the recipient of "Land of the Odd"~ Thank YOU ALL for your generous donations! We raised almost 1000.00 for the flood victims :))

UPDATE--I'm extending the fund raising for a few extra days as we are bit under goal as to where I'd like to be for our donation.  ANY amount you can give  is very much  appreciated! For every 10.00 you donate, you'll get one entry to win one of two paintings offered.  In total I'm donating over 2100 dollars worth of artwork!!!!  Fundraiser extended through 10/21/16 but I will send a check for funds raised thus far on Wednesday as committed to the FBC of Southern Pines for their Hurricane Matthew relief fund.

Neighbors helping Neighbors, Brothers and Sisters helping Brothers and Sisters! Be a part of the solution!
As many of you already know,  our state is reeling in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew still.  This pop up auction for a couple of my paintings is being set up to raise funds to help my son's church in their efforts this week to collect necessities for these victims who have lost everything virtually.   We may not be able to help everyone, but every little bit will make a difference to these flood victims who have nothing left.   Several years ago I had a devastating fire in my home where I lost virtually everything as well. If it were not for the help from friends, family, co-workers and the Red-Cross, I would have been left homeless for sure. So, with that said...I am happy to donate a couple pieces of art to give back and I'm hoping YOU will be so kind as to give a little as well and potentially receive an original painting in return.

How this will work:   Please donate at least 10.00 for a chance to be in the drawing (any less is fine too and much appreciated}but for every 10.00 donated by an individual, you'll get one 'virtual ticket' for the giveaway.   So, if you donate 100.00, you will get a 10 chances to win!

Proceeds less shipping *will be given to the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines, NC for their fund raising to help the hurricane victims this week.  We will collect donations for this fundraiser through Monday evening 10/17/16 and announce the winner Tuesday, 10/18/16.
We will be extending the fund raiser through Friday 10/21/16! There's still time to get in on this awesome opportunity!

Note--both of these items are over-sized items shipping is the responsibility of the winning donation UNLESS we exceed  a minimum of $1000 in donations for each painting. Price for shipping both of these items with insurance would be approximately 125-150 for domestic shipping each.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!!  If you can't donate, please help by sharing this post!!!
Lastly, PLEASE indicate in your donation, which painting you would prefer. If there is no preference and your name is chosen, you'll receive the artist's choice :)

One random winner was chosen and that winner is---

Li Li Wee said...
Zen to me is not just about being calm and at peace. It's about embracing chaos . It's about embracing the yin and yang energy.. IT'S ABOUT BEING PRESENT AND EMBRACING 'WHAT IS' AT THE CURRENT MOMENT!!

What I will benefit from the workshop?
I am hoping to overcome myself doubt and fear of creating through your style of art.

Thank you for the opportunity
Becky Collins said...
Zen for me today is different than it was just one week ago. On 9/9 I had a double mastectomy and will be laid up for quite a few weeks. So as I lay here this first week I'm clearing my mind(because it's too painful to even color) clearing my mind of all negative thoughts and feelings that come with being diagnosed with cancer.the new path I'm on has been sweet thus far because it's brought my husband and I some needed together time, while he's been my care giver he's also slowed me down. And that is where ZEN is for me these days. It's in the quiet, it's in the mind. But soon it will be on paper and it's that day that keeps me going! Thank you for giving all of us the opportunity to win a seat!! I hope to come visit you at your shop when I'm well enough.

UPDATED--Sale extended through April 8th!

Happy Almost Easter to all of you who celebrate!   I hope you have something relaxing and fun planned for the holiday!    I wish I could say we are going away but the schedule doesn't permit this time around so we are going to have a staycation and do some fun things around here.  Sometimes that's the best way to go and then take off during the non peak times!

Anywhoosers, I've been a total blog and newsletter slacker this month!  I think after I handed in my book and wrote two pretty emotional blog posts in February, I was done with writing for awhile..haha!   Really, I've been traveling for classes and just catching up on the pile of work I have had build up...all in a good way. I rather have work to do then none
at all!

Today I wanted to share with you something extra special that only happens a couple times a year. For a limited time, I'm offering  my classes over at Creative Workshops at a GREAT discount!   From now until  April 4th,  make that April 8th, all my workshops hosted at CW are 20% off, INCLUDING my newest class, Dirty Flirty Birds. (The students have been ROCKING it out with all of their projects!  I definitely recommend you come soar to new dirty bird heights with us!!!!)

If you are having a stay cation this week or just looking for a great deal on a class you had your eye on, it's time to pull the trigger and  join in on the fun!

Have a wonderful weekend!   Stop and smell the flowers,  take a moment to be quiet and enjoy the peacefulness of the wind,  enjoy a laugh with friends, and remember to infuse creativity into everything you do, not just the studio :)

Artfully and gratefully yours,

Jodi

Part 2 of the Big News: This is Really Happening! Behind The Scenes of Making My DVDS!

The last few months have  been a whirlwind for sure with all sorts of cool projects going on,  fun trips, awesome classes with super fun students,  and just incredible memories made doing work I hardly consider a job.  This week I'm super EXCITED to share even more news (with a few more announcements to come..what the what!!!!).

Last May, some of you may recall that I traveled to the Cincinnati film studios of F&W Media (parent company of Cloth Paper Scissors,  Artists Magazine, North Light Books,  Artists and Makers, to name a few),  to spend 4 days filming for upcoming DVDs of mine they are producing. Well....the time has come and the 4 new DVD's  are ready for Pre-order (they  will be shipping starting October 2nd). The digital downloads are available now!!!   This is one of those pinch me moments that I can hardly believe is happening!

I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the behind the scenes photos of my work table and set up as well as meet a couple of the wonder women behind the scenes filming (sorry I didn't get pics of the guys that made it all happen, too)!  One thing is for sure, there's so much hard work and effort that goes into producing videos,  each and every person plays a vital rol in making it all happen!

My producer,  Amy Jones.  She did an awesome job putting all the details of my creative vision  for the projects into an actual product that we are delivering to you!    Not to mention she is a lot of fun and has a great personality. I felt welcome and valued as soon as I arrived on set!   I was scared as could be, not knowing what to expect and I know the first day I was not as comfortable with the whole process as I could have been but it didn't take long for my nerves to settle with all the support and help the crew lent me!

Wowza...do you see that big camera facing down on the set?  They had 4 of those around the room...and 3-4 camera/film operators at any one time working on the set along with myself and the producer. It was quite the arty party!!!  :)
The projects range from watercolors on Yupo,  acrylic painting, collage, and ink paintings. Just tons of techniques and information jam packed into the DVDs that will be soon available.   The fact that I had the opportunity to do this is just beyond words.  I know I'm blessed for sure and I am excited to bring to you this new avenue of creative education at an extremely affordable price!   There have been tons of requests in the past from students of mine to have downloadable products or dvds and I just didn't have a way to create that type of product...well that's an issue of the past.  Now you can  enjoy the classes/projects anytime, anywhere!

Here's Christine, another one of the camera woman and a photographer along with Amy, our producer.  I hope you can tell how much fun we all had from their contagious smiles!  :))
More samples I brought for the shoot...we 'prettied' up the set with a fun selection of my art over the course of the week. I brought a ton of stuff!  I seem to do that where ever I go.  Packing lightly is just not something I'm very good at!! :))
Preparing to work on a new project for the film...there's a lot of stop and starting during the course of the day but it is definitely a FULL day of work for each of the DVD's we created and then months of editing and polishing it all up for the  the final project(s).
So other than noticing for sure how dang chunky I look, I'm really proud of everything we created at F&W Media!!  I hope that you take a second to check out the DVD's or Downloads and buy one or two for yourself!   These would make great stocking stuffers for the holidays, too...just sayin!!! :))

Here are the pictures for the DVD's and if you click on them they will take you right to the store to purchase them!

My last words of wisdom for this post is simply to be brave in your quest to achieve your dreams.  You never know what can happen if you simply try.  Now go out and make some beautiful art or run that marathon you've been wanting to do!  You got this!

Ohhh...one more thing,  if you haven't had a chance to stop by my last blog post-I'm having a giveaway. Entries taken through 9/30!

Stay tuned for more big news coming!!
