We had a whirlwind trip to the beach to see family and do a little shopping before heading back and diving back into finishing up my artwork that I'll be taking with me for my book photo shoot next week!!! I can hardly believe it is almost here....EEEEK!!  lol  


 There is art everywhere in my house. Honestly, I have had a few freak out moments this week trying to manage it all!   My sweet boy tried to help Momma today by moving the furniture around in the living room so we could set up our tree while I was working in the studio.  awww...right???

Heading To Florida! Wanna Join Me??

This week I'm  getting back into the groove after a HUGE month of activities, travel...teaching..and filming (More about all that later!),  so while these last few days have been a bit of down time for me (not really!!), there is still much to do in the studio as I'm heading back out in a little over a week to travel teach as a guest instructor in Melbourne, Florida at the Art More Place.   If you are looking for something fun to do in the sun....near the beach...creative and of course colorful, come join us for a whole weekend full of workshops.  We have a few spaces left in both classes so please spread the word!

  First up will be my Grunge, Ink class, Friday, June 19th  10-4.  We will be 'splishing and splashing' away as we create several amazing abstract pieces.  This is the first time I will be teaching this class live and I can not wait to introduce you all to this fantastic process!!!!

For this class, there is a small 15.00 supply charge that will include Yupo paper,  access to acrylic inks, India Ink,  Golden High Flow Acrylics,  stencils, stamps, along with various other supplies needed for the project.     (if you were to buy all the supplies needed individually, it would easily cost over 100.00).      Just bring a brayer or two, a couple of brushes, and water container--I'll take care of the rest.

Next up, we are featuring an extended version of my Funky Little Beachscapes class on June 20th from 10-4  and a morning session to finish up your whimsical masterpieces June 21st.   

For those that have followed my art for a while now...have to know that this is one of my all time favorite classes and genres of painting that I do.  HOWEVER...  this is one of the last times I'll be teaching this particular class for a long time so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity!!  

You'll be working on 1-2 canvases (you can choose the size but I would recommend your main canvas to be at least 16 x 20 so you can really experiment).  

During the course of the class you will learn so many techniques and many of my favorite tricks of the trade, it will make your head spin!!   

If you love color and whimsy, this is the class for you!

You Never Know: Tips From The Studio and an Art Journal Flip Through

Hello and Happy Monday!

  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and you were able to carve some creative time in your spare leisure moments.  I didn't do a whole lot in my studio this weekend other than finish up this project:

This is a 24 x 36 whimsical acrylic painting in my "Funky Little City Scape" style.that I started at the beginning of the month--while it didn't take me 4 weeks of non stop work to do, I would gather to say it was the better part of 2 weeks to do in full with a break in between to prepare for another project I was doing.   I just love the colors and happy vibe you get from this piece (which was inspired by a painting I did a few years ago that I loaded up to Pinterest). It is my most repinned pin and has inspired not only additional paintings, but even led to an opportunity to be on a book cover!!

So..you see for my point today, you never know when one project is going to lead to the next, and the next---or for that matter, you never know where potential clients will find you.   My only regret and this is something that has happened to me before.... is that I did not capture a super high resolution image of this painting. I can create prints that are about 8x10 but that's the largest I can go and not sacrifice picture clarity.  

Don't do as Momma does...do as momma says: Take super high res images of your work before you send it off into the world!!!!  Saving your photos at 300 dpi also insures that if your image is used in a print publication, it will conform (ideally) to most industry standard printing publication guidelines. As you see, creating high resolution images is not just important for  for creating prints, you never know who may ask to use your work: licensed designs, fabric,  authors, musicians, stationary, etc...etc....the possibilities span far and wide!!

...I'll leave you with a little more inspiration today as I sign off--I've shared this before but for those new followers, I thought you might like to see some of my favorite journal pages of 2014.  I've JUST begun filling up a few new books for 2015, so stay tuned for a little preliminary look in a couple weeks (or if I get really ambitious...a couple of days!!).

I've been running real hard lately kids, and a bit behind in my posting. Lots of good stuff to share once I get a chance to catch my breath. (really great things for sure!) Running towards good things I might add, shared with great people who have touched my heart, changed my life and filled my well with gratitude.  

There has been lots of travel over the last several months starting last March in  the hills of NC near Asheville, to the coast of the Outerbanks,  a stop around Easter over on the coast of SC before heading  South and West to Memphis for an event for Art Is You.

Add  a visit back home to NY,  more work in NJ, CT, Chicago, Dallas,  before heading  back to the Outer Banks last week.. oh wait, . one more trip to Texas this week coming up before I can stop for a bit and breathe in all the goodness and reflect on how awesome and amazingly full my artistic life has become.  

 While all the running and travel has been great, it makes coming home all that more sweet especially when it's greeted with a great big bear hug from my amazing little big man...my 14 year old sweet heart. I'm sure you can imagine how much the hug means to me every time I manage to get one.....(you know those times are fewer and farther in between).

    I'm working on a few things this week so hopefully I can buckle down and get those finished so I can catch you up in more detail about all the fun that's been had in between the 1000's miles of travel!
