I hope all of your homes are warm, you rooms are filled with light, there is enough
food to go around, and you are surrounded by those you love this holiday season and
beyond. While the times are very tough no doubt, we can choose how we feel each day
when we wake up and believe that brighter days are ahead. The reality is that there are going to be dark days ahead for many with the world turning upside down as it has over the last several months. But maybe, just maybe it was time for it to do so.

Is happiness truly found in things? Or is it found in the memories we create with the ones we love? Do you remember the every single gift you've ever received or do you remember baking cookies with your Mom or laughing over a hotly contested card game with your kids? Of course we love to receive presents and gifts from others, especially when they are heartfelt and meaningful, but honestly, there is a lot we do not need and probably won't miss if we don't get it--choosing not to worry about what we don't have and being greatful for the many blessings we do have is a gift in and of itself.

Remembering our ROOTS and where we are from and cherishing those that we hold close is a great gift of life. Memories, experiences, love, friendship, giving of ourselves, and blessing all that is ours is the true gift of the season. I hope that in 2009, each day we wake up is a bright one, but even if it's not....we truly can choose how much light we see each and everyday. It is within our power. Remember not to waste too many minutes trying to keep up with someone or something else. Before you know it, those minutes will be gone forever. Who wants to live with regret? Not I. But it's something I need to be reminded of often. I received a 'sign' today that reminded me of this message and felt the need to pass it on.

Have a very blessed holiday my friends, my heart is filled beyond measure from all the gifts I have received from those of you who choose to spend a few minutes of your busy day with me.
Thank you for sharing yourself with me:)

Lucy what a beautiful and thoughtful message you wrote. It is something we all need to remember, joy is in the moments, not in 'stuff'. I wish you a joy-filled holiday season, and I can't wait to see how you grow :-)
blessings!

you are so right - the memories of times spent together, even just memories of the feelings of those times are a TREASURE.
May you have a blessed time this Christmas season. xo
