A Singer in a Rock n Roll Band!

How many of you know that I was a music store manager in my younger years?? Raise your hands...raise your hands, okay...so three of you knew that. Well, let me tell you, I could rock it out with the best of them! One of the perks of being a manager at a pretty decent store, was free tickets to concerts and TONS of free music (most stuff before it hit the streets...and some that never hit the streets). It was a job that I absolutely positively LOVED loved LOVED!!! I could tell you stories of how nutz I used to be in the day. Yes, calm, even keeled, slightly cookey me. Ahhhh. Those were the good ole days. Back when I had a 250 dollar paycheck, and still went out just about every night. A car that barely run, ramen noodles on the table most nights, macaroni and cheese the other nights, and an apartment full of friends. We played late into the night card games with music loud in the background. There was always music. Fitting that my first job out of college was managing a store that I molded into my own, and had a blast doing it!

This weekend reminded me of the days I ran the music store. We traveled back again to Myrtle Beach to celebrate my friend, Nanette's birthday. 29 I believe. Aren't they all? And while celebrating, we rocked out at Broadway at the Beach's Mardi Gras festival and got to see CLOSE up, the Cowboy Junkie's for free. Yes free. Okay, so they aren't that well known, but what a fun band to see live. SOOOO interactive, I've seen a lot of concerts. A lot. From Black Sabbath to Neil Diamond, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi (4 times), Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Melissa Etheridge, Goo Goo Dolls, and everything else in between. Concerts are best close up and personal and when the band gets the crowd riled up. This band did not disappoint!~! The bad part was the freezing dang cold and wind. After a few cocktails though, the weather suddenly changed. Amazing.

The guy in the hat is Ellen DeGenere's brother. Or so they tell me. The drummer is also the lead singer and just plain old crazy.

Crazy bastard was wearing shorts-heck it almost looked like a skirt from where I was sitting. Or it could have been the cocktails?? Who knows!

Oh looky here. I am a groupy. I catch a quick feel with the lead singer. Just like the old days.
I could tell ya stories. ;)

Bre-Fast.
Gotta have breakfast after a night out. It just hast to happen. The only difference is we cart our football team of boys with us. My how have things changed, yet really stayed the same!!

Rock on!

Word.

Well I never managed a music store, though my sister did. I just worked at one for like 6 years! What a fun trip I bet that was! I miss that stuff too!

LOL! Girl, we lead the same life! I managed an indie record store for about 5 years in my early 20s and loved it. I could tell you some stories, too! Ahem.

Anyway, used to love the Cowboy Junkies but I'm remembering a slow album with a chick singer as my favorite.

big hugs, you rock star
