New painting I'm starting on---FINALLY--see my resolution (or goal list as Heidi eloquently stated):

My work in progress lately has been my little craft/sewing/computer room. Since my desk was a casualty this summer, my new computer has been sitting on my sewing table. What a mess that has been!! Talk about no room to move!

I thrifted away this weekend and purchased 2 desks at the Habitat for Moore Store in Aberdeen, NC, and I made out like a bandit. I was able to pick up them up for 15 dollars each. They are big, heavy, old, but sturdy desks. Not the prettiest things but I wanted a flat top desk so I wouldn't be tempted to stick stuff everywhere in the nook in crannies that come with desks with hutches. I'm sure these came from hotels. If you haven't ever stopped at a Habitat Store, please do yourself a favor and check them out. Good deals, and the proceeds go to a great cause.

My honey had to take the door off to get them in, take the sides off the desk to pass them through the doors...THEN...put everything back together again!! I'm sure he's so glad to be home! I put him straight to work!
While not the completed room, here is a peek on what I've accomplished so far. What an improvement!! I have so much more space I don'tknow what to do with myself!

The other side of the room I have some of my sewing supplies and a space to do some drawing and painting. I just have to figure out where to put all my fabric stash and how to set up my sewing machine for easy access. I relocated my "old desk"/sewing table to the corner and put my sewing machine back up in it's rightful place so that's a start. Only problem being it's kinda blockaded by a love seat that's also in this room. Once I finish making the pillows for the loveseat, I'll photo that (also a purchase from the Habitat Store this summer).

It feels so nice to have a place for everything (most of these items on the desk are thrifted except for the red bin where I put some of my knitting supplies. The paints I bought at Michaels' with my 40% off coupon a few weeks ago.
I made these curtains which I'm blocking with the desk..lol...but not too shabby as they were made with fabric I got at a thift shop, lace bought at a yard sale, and no pattern to speak of. I just winged it!

Wow, it's only the 4th day of the first month and look how much you've already got done. It must be great to have different work stations. I've never seen a habitat store anywhere near me. I'm sure the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver probably have something like that.

By the way, I've changed my blog name and url recently, so toastbones is gone. Thx

:)

I'm home from work today with the plan of organizing and your post helped get me in the mood! Looks great!

Are those cherry blossoms you're planning to paint? How pretty.

I'm in the swap and already planning my crafted item. :)
