Fun with Faux Encaustics
Jodi Ohl
‘A beginner to intermediate mixed media course that explores an exciting new technique that mimics encaustic painting”

Course description:
Are you intrigued by the layers of sweet beauty that encaustic painting offers but intimidated by the process and hesitant to invest in another assortment of art supplies? Or, are you looking to try some new techniques that explore the usage of acrylic mediums? Perhaps you simply want to begin your journey into the mixed media art world. If so, then we invite you to join this delightful online workshop, “Fun with Faux Encaustics“. In this course, taught by Jodi Ohl, an internationally collected mixed media artist and published writer, students will be led through a fascinating process of mimicking encaustic painting by incorporating acrylic mediums, layers of collage, and acrylic paint which will be enhanced with light journal writing on stretched canvases. By the end of the course, students will have completed four faux encaustic pieces inspired by Jodi Ohl’s techniques of distinctly textured and boldly colored whimsical mixed media paintings. As an added bonus, she will share several other tips and techniques that you can use with the products for this class to unleash further creativity! Students will be provided with videos, still pictures, and written directions to utilize during the work shop.
WORKSHOP BEGINS JULY 15, 2009
Class Cost: $45.00

I've been working behind the scenes on getting this class together and can finally post the details about it..yay!! I'm so excited to be able to offer this to the growing list of mixed media artists and emerging artists around here. If you are like me, an in person work shop isn't in the budget at this time but an affordable online class is a definite opportunity because of the flexibility it allows as well as the tremendous value in the pricing offered. This is, my first work shop and I am thrilled beyond measure to have been asked to be an instructor over at Creative Workshops, which is hosted by the lovely Gail Schmidt , owner of Shabby Cottage Studio and leader of the wildly popular Mind Wide Open challenge.

While the class will start July 15th, I'd love for you to sign up now and have an opportunity to win a free class. We will be giving one free class away to participants who sign up between now and June 15th. The winning participant will be drawn on June 16th and their paid class fee will be refunded after the drawing.

I appreciate your support over the last couple of years and would be grateful if you spread the word about my new class!!!

Cheers!

Oh I can't wait! I'm hoping to be able to set aside enough money from this paycheck to play.

This is fantastic news! I am definitely signing up! I've long admired your style, and would love to be able to do gorgeous backgrounds for my girls. Jodi do you know how many weeks this will be, since I will be on vacation in August?
