Here are your random numbers:

And who is that???
None other than the Uber Talented and Charming, Kim G of Persimmons Gal!
Kim wrote for her greatest accomplishment in 2008:
"Jodi it has been a treat watching your art career grow to new heights!
My greatest accomplishment this year was pulling of a community festival that brought about 8,000 people downtown...Sputnikfest. Also getting published.
Happy New Year!!"
I've had the pleasure of getting to know Kim over the last year as we are involved in a great group called Metsy together on Etsy, as well as her and I working on a collaboration of sorts with several other artists that we are hoping to promote come this Spring (stay tuned). Kim has a great Etsy shop herself, full of wonderful creations of a variety of artful mediums, from paintings to jewelry and everything in between.
Congrats Kim on all of YOUR accomplishments in 2008-you are one of kind, beautiful, generous, and an all around courageous person!
One of the items on my 2009 list of goals to achieve is to learn how to use photoshop. I've played with a few of my archive pics and wanted to show you this piece. I took a regular photo of the train station in downtown Southern Pines, NC and added a layer of color, 2 different pieces of digital ephermera, and messed with the opacity and the result is the transformation of our dear train station into a old world picture, romantic, dreamy and truly unique! Lots of fun! ((Mind you, this took me two hours to do, so maybe next time I can speed up the process now that I have 'sorta' the hang of how to merge layers and control the settings.
What is that you want to try to learn this year???
Last but not least--thank you all for helping me get off my pity pot this week! I should have thicker skin than I do--and sometimes I do, but when it comes to something so personal, I guess my defenses were down and my skin very thin. I'm over it and ready to move upward and onward. In fact, I have a special project I'm working on coming up for early spring that brightened my day, I'm working on 2 custom orders, embarking on entering a new gallery in a new part of the state this weekend, and had an ephiphany of sort for a new line of paintings to come (not sure when but soon).....so, perhaps getting knocked down a bit was good. It forced me to readjust my thinking, look for new directions, and listen to my heart. Thanks for being the whispers that allowed me to forge ahead!
Question of the post to reveal:
What is that you want to learn in 2009?
I loved hearing your greatest accomplishment comments, so lets keep em going!

how lucky is kim!!! wowsers! wish i won....
the train station looks so cool- i'm trying to learn photoshop too- it's amazing how it can suck you in for hours- i should probably get a book and learn how to run it properly.
so that's the first thing i want to learn- and the is to work in other mediums- i want to dabble into drawing and painting more-
I definitely want to grow more competent in mixed media techniques...but I think the thing I really want to "learn" in 2009 is how to "push"/challenge myself more in order to accomplish my dreams, especially those dreams around making my work more visible. Reading your blog has been an inspiration, because it encourages me to send off a submission idea, to show my work off.
Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
I absolutely love that picture Jodi! I know nothing at all about photoshop so I should take inspiration from you and learn.
I am sooooo excited I won! You made an otherwise not so great day alot better.
Congrats Persimmonsgal! you lucky girl :-)
Cool work with the photoshop Jodi!
I would love to work more with photoshop but I see how time consuming it can be. If only we didn't have to sleep so long!
I always want to know how to do everything. LOL But I'm planning to just keep developing my drawing, painting, photo editing skills. I really would like to take a class, but I'm holding off for now because I just don't think I can take on one more thing.
Congrats, Kim! You lucky girl!
I just love how that photo turned out, Jodi. I've dabbled in Photoshop a bit, and it sure is addicting! I don't really know how to use all the featured, but could spend all day playing.
My goals for 2009 are to learn all I can regarding e-commerce, including stocking and starting up my Etsy shop, become more visible by blogging consistently and connecting with other creators, and to develop better artistic skills. It all seems overwhelming at times, since I want what I want NOW! LOL But the Mixed Media thread and all the blogs are great and teaching me a lot. Thanks girls!
Oh Kim, congrats you lucky girl! Have fun with your new endeavors Jodi!
xoxo
Pam
Thats on lucky Gal! Keep plugging away Jodi - pics look good. I'm self taught on an ancient version of photoshop elements. It is very cool to play with - I mostly use it for "sketching" ideas & for paintings etc.
Are you a member of CreativeSouls on ning? There's some great photoshop art there & some people are generous with advice.
What I really need to learn in 2009 is time management & organization. Behind on everything lately it seems.
I love that Photoshopped picture! One of my goals for 2009 is to learn to use Photoshop too! I just got Elements 7 and I need to go pick up a book from the library on how to use it. I'm determined to get it figured out!
Joid, That photoshopped pic is priceless. I love it. What a great front of a travel journal it would make. I love the oldworld charm feel you gave it. Congrats to Kim and thanks for sharing about her with us.
I received Photoshop Elements for Christmas, so for 2009 I want to learn how to use it. I guess a lot of us do. I think my other 2009 goal would be just to actually sell something in my etsy shop. Congrats on the new show, I am so glad you are looking ahead and keeping your eye on the prize (full time artist).
love what you did with the train station photo!!
i bought the most recent issue of cloth, paper, scissors today and was enthralled with your magnets articel. way to go!
i too have made it my goal to learn to do more in photoshop this year. i'm having so much fun!!!
I love the photoshop work - I've been dabbling too and it is fun, could take lots of time:)
