The Blue Period of Jodi Ohl

beauty2
Can anyone guess what my favorite color is??
Ha!

dream2

Every time I go to paint, I reach form my blues more than anything else it seems. I just can't get away from them. Maybe one day when I'm long gone and nothing more than a mere memory, the historians will look back and try to evaluate my 'Blue period'. What does it all mean? What was the source of inspiration to use so much blue in her art?? Frankly, it's as simple as a pure love of something. In this case though, there's a special purpose behind the art and color choice as I made these for childhood friend I reconnected with through Facebook of all places. (What a lovely time sucker of websites that is!!)

I love seeing all the people though that I haven't seen for many many years! It's an honor that my friend has asked me to create something special for her to place in her home. As an artist, you truly do create for yourself first and foremost but to have someone actually seek you out to create something that is for them especially is a great honor and in a lot of ways scary as all get out!! Custom orders always give me the cold sweats. I guess it's just the fact that you are trying to match your art to someone else's vision. Sometimes you can make it happen, sometimes the two don't connect in the way either thought it would. Anyway, I'm hoping my friend likes these, they are really gorgeous in person if I do say so myself :)

So what gives you that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you create? Or, what gives you anxiety when you are creating something? How do you get over it??
Love hearing your comments and feedback!

You can paint blue any old time. In fact, I look at your three blue pieces on my way up and down the stairs in my new home. I have them sitting on a window sill on the landing. They make me smile each and every time I pass!! I loved the comment you left on my blog and feel very honoured and touched that you count me among your dear friends. I feel exactly the same way about you! Hope all is well....hugs...

I got it, your favorite color is

orange..

HEE HEE! It is quite obvious your favorite color is blue and I think it suites you well. I love all the fine things you've been doing. I've been around but busy playing with Misty Mawn's journal challenge. I think my biggest anxiety when I'm creating something is that noone will "get it" or understand what I'm trying to say. Doesn't matter if it's poetry or drawing or collage or quilting. I don't like sharing what I create becasue I;m afraid others just won't "get it". Misty's challenge has sure helped me with that. (Usually,m I jujst don't show anyone a painting or drawing. My poetry I write or me and I have overcome the anxiety of putting it out there. Well for most of it anyway. Some poems are best just left locked away.

Loving the blues! I know what you mean about the custom work...gives me the sweats too, lol! What's the worst is when they say, "oh, I love your style, I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with". Gulp!
