If You Make It, Will They Come?

Hello Friends! Happy Almost Leap Year Day!! It's hard to believe another month in 2012 has come and gone already. I'm not sure where time is going but it sure is flying! I wanted to share with you lots of exciting news and events as well as artsy specials going on in my shops as well as work shops!
My latest class which is an ongoing online workshop held over at Creative Workshops, Fearless Faux Encaustics is now on special from now until March 11th.  For the first time I am offering this workshop at the special price of $40 dollars which is a $25 dollar savings!!  The beauty of this workshop is that it is open ended, which means you can join in at any time and work at your own pace at any time of day.  If you want to create and learn at 2 in the morning, then enter the class room and you can play until you can't keep your eyes open anymore!!
For more information on the class, stop over to the the shop and check it out HERE.

Online workshops are great but if you can take an in person class (or 2....) I have a few that you don't want to miss starting with  two classes I am having in Saluda, NC this weekend at the lovely Random Arts shop and studio, owned by Jane Powell.  On March 3rd we will be creating Funky faces like the picture above, working on a amazing abstract background first and foremost then coming back around and creating our character face over the design for a unique abstract graffiti like free expression painting.
Then on Sunday we will relax with a day of journaling in an altered children's board book creating more faces and exciting backgrounds, using all sorts of fun supplies like water soluble pencils, collage fodder, crayons, paint, and more.  Painting, blending, drawing, and getting our feelings and expressions out in the safety of our beautiful journal.
Both classes are from 10-4 so make a weekend of it and come play at Random Arts in Saluda, NC!
Don't delay though as there are only a couple of slots left in the classes!!
If a trip to the Asheville area is not in the cards this weekend then perhaps you'd like to join us at Jerry's Artarama in Raleigh, NC on March 10th from 2-5 for another fun journaling class "Painting with Crayons and Pencils".  During this interactive 3 hour class we will discover the wonders of water soluble crayons, pencils, and paint as we play in a Strathmore mixed media journal.
For those of you who are new to art journaling, this is a great first class to dive into and learn a variety of techniques that you can build on for not just journaling but for more advance character and portraiture!
In addition to this class, I'll be teaching 2 other awesome classes at Jerry's this year--

During the month of February I have been busy creating samples for upcoming classes and getting ready for shows among other things. In my art shop on Etsy, I have uploaded several new paintings including a set of funky owls I created as samples for a summer online class I am having over at Artful Gathering 2012.  Sweet On You is a 8 x 10  cutesy owl couple illustrative painting.
As an added bonus--I have a coupon code that will entitle you to
15% off your ENTIRE purchase that is good 2/28-2/29 (don't you want this sweet little painting to hang in your home ;)
Use coupon code at check out:  sweetsalecoupon  to get our 15% (dont' delay--sale ends 2/29 !)

Abandoned
When I first embarked on this journey of being a full time artist, I developed a business plan (yes believe it or not, creative types do indeed create business plans!) that included adding on new products to my inventory of artsy goodness.  Well, some things have taken me longer than expected (does that ever happen to you????) to roll out but I'm proud to say that I have now opened an extension to my art shop, Jodi Ohl Photography and Reproduction Prints,  where I am offering photographic prints, often digitally enhanced for a contemporary look that is unlike anything you have ever seen.   I will also eventually move my art prints to this shop as well but for now it is primarily my artistic photography.
Please do stop by and have a  look!
Most prints are available in other sizes then listed so if there is a picture you like but don't see a size offered that you are interested in. I can usually alter it to fit the size of your choice.  Just email me at jodiohl@hotmail.com or convo me on Etsy.

I have lots of variety in the shop..from the surreal beach scenes like this one above...
To the magical beauty of an old building, slightly broken yet still strong in stature.
Take a ride back in time to the wanderlust of a summer afternoon discovering the world on your bicycle with the wind at your back.  Photographs and prints illicit memories, taking you back in time to a moment or push your forward to another place or world that may be magical or surreal.  Celebrating this journey I am offering my Old Bike print series  "For The Love of Summer"
for only 5.00!!
This is a limited time only special so please stop by and check them out.
 Additional styles:
Black and White
Original
*If you are interested in this print but want a different size, I will also offer a discount off of other sizes if asked....so what are you waiting for?
As you can see, there's lots of creative goodness in the air--and I thank you wholeheartedly for joining along with me on this journey. Without my loyal customers and fans, all of this would not be possible.   Thank you, thank you.
One last bit of exciting news--coming Mother's Day weekend I will be appearing at the Dunwoody Art Festival in Ga for the second year in a row. I'm super duper excited but even more so this year as my painting "Goodness Rules" was chosen to represent the festival which I am soooooo thrilled about. How did this come about? I simply put my best foot forward and was brave enough to enter their call for artists contest, and low and behold, I WON!!
The moral of the story is and I hope I've conveyed this not just today but in all of my newsletters, blog posts, articles...you have to move forward to get ahead...you need to take a chance to achieve your dreams...you must not just dream, you need to do. Even if you don't make it the first time around or even the third time around, you will be further ahead than if you never tried at all.
Till we meet again, I hope your life is full of happiness and many dreams that are coming true daily.
With gratitude,
Jodi Ohl
