Spread the Love--Sweet Repeats January Giveaway!

Starting off a new tradition, it's a New Year anyway--I'm going to host a giveaway each month!! I love giveaways and what better way to promote my new article in Cloth Paper Scissors, 'Itty Bitty Bits of Inspiration" which is out in news stands on January 6th. Win one of my magnets as part of the giveaway AND a $20 dollar gift certificate to my shop!
The 20 dollar gift certificate can be applied towards more magnets, prints, or to put towards an original painting.

How to enter?

Leave a comment and tell me what your greatest accomplishment was in 2008!

You get extra bonus points for linking back to this post in a blog post of your own, simply leave another comment with your link.

Giveaway open until January 9th!

*****
I'm almost finished with larger version of my magnets, these are 6 x 6 on 3/4 inch masonite, created in the same technique as described in my article, just larger. I was inspired by a potential client asking for a custom piece but in a larger format.
I think I will call them:

Sweet Wall HeARTs
What do you think?

When complete, they will have a hanger on the back. I may offer them in different sizes as I think I used up about all of my 6 x 6 wood pieces. One of my internal resolutions is to cut way back on my supply spending and use what I have to complete new pieces. I know a lot of others have a 'creative purgatory of supplies' (thanks Penny for the quote) like me and need to downsize just to think so join a long with my resolution if you'd like. Of course now, I do have a few dollars left on a Michael's gift card so that doesn't count, just for the record. I actually created a 'bizness' budget for myself for 2009. It's not elaborate but it does give me some guidance and a plan for my art business.
Basically I included: shipping and packaging supplies (cello bags and chipboard for my prints as well as envelopes, tape, tissue, bubble wrap, etc), a print alotment each month, basic supplies, marketing and advertising, professional dues, entertainment (gotta have money to go out to eat or host more art parties with my creative friends), education (I'd love to got to an art retreat but I still can't afford it-but I may be able to take an online class), and then finally, my big Daddy purchase that I'll make this year...soon...a new desktop AND new laptop. I've debated and debated about whether to buy a laptop or a desktop and what size, type, printer, blah blah blah. There's pros and cons to both but in the end, I think buying the best desktop possible so I can do digital art and more with my pictures is really where I want to focus. Then I'll buy a lower end laptop just so I can be mobile and have access to my 'business' and email when I'm away from home. I will only really need that mostly for internet/email so it doesn't have to be the big dog of laptops.

So there you go. I checked off something that was on my 2009 to do list. Now to stick to my budget---stay tuned and see if I can do it!

Don't forget to enter my contest for a magnet and a gift certificate (tell me what your greatest accomplishment in 2008 was), and spread the word for an extra entry!

In 2009, I hope to reach at least 200 sales so I appreciate your help to give me some exposure!

I love your large HeArt pieces!

My biggest accomplishment in 2008 was gaining confidence in myself and my work.

I also realized and embraced that creating art (for me) is a journey, ever evolving, always changing. And I'm looking forward to a new direction in 2009.

I would love to win this as I never win anything. One thing for sure is that our greatest accomplishment for 2008 would be adopting our youngest, Kamden. He has an older brother from Guatemala, Kaleb. Check out our blog and please include me in the drawing. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

I think 'Sweet Wall Hearts' is a wonderful name for them. Since I won your Birthday Giveaway I won't ask to be included in this giveaway but wanted to wish you well in 2009. Also I wanted to encourage you to get a All in One Printer to go with your new desktop. I have the HP Photosmart C5140 All in One Printer-Scanner-Copier and I love it. It's the second all in one I've owned and I'd hate to have to go back to just any printer with a scanner hooked up too. Best Wishes for the new year Jodi. I'll be here in the background enjoying your blog and creativity. And commenting way too often. :)

Hmmmm....I think my greatest accomplishment in 2008 creative wise was the publication of one of my photographs. It was in a non-profit magazine, but that's a start anyway!
I finally found a copy of Cloth, Paper, Scissors and really enjoyed reading your article. Gave me the warm fuzzies~

I will mention your give-away on my blog in the next post. Your art is taking off and I am sure that you will have no problem reaching 200 sales! Really!

My greatest accomplishment was participating in an art show...the largest and most attended in our area. I was so nervous and worried that my work wouldn't live-up to the expectations of people who attend every year, but it did and I felt so good.

Greatest accomplishment in 2008 ??? Hmmmm....I suppose having the courage to submit my work for publication and being willing to get rejected; accept whatever the outcome....come what may....it was more fun getting published, but just having the courage to submit was a biggie for me :)

Love your new work, Jodi...I am amazed at the amount you can accomplish !!! Wonder Woman !!!

Sweet giveaway and I love your Sweet Wall HeARTs!

My greatest accomplishment (artwise) in 2008 was selling my first painting! It was such a thrill and I definitely want to do more of that in 2009!

Early retirement - is that an accomplishment? How about beginning a blog? Starting on the path to artist?

your art just gets better and better! can't wait to see you in print!

my best accomplishment in 2008 was a solo art exhibit.

take care!

Regina said...

At the risk of sounding bragg-o-docious.... It was a great year for me. I sold 2 paintings, I was invited to have 2 solo shows in 2009, I made it into 2 juried exhibits, and got my first ribbon on a painting. Blogging pushed me, challenged me, inspired me & is helping me have more momentum with my art. I'm so HAPPY to have made your acquaintance via blog land. I use a lap top & we have a wireless external hard drive where I store tons of images (and it's also a backup for other files) so that my laptop has enough space to run my editting software. Just a thought you might want to consider.

What do I think is my best accomplishment of 2008? I would say starting a blog. This isn't the answer I originally thought I would write down, but when I think about it, blogs have opened a whole new world for me, and I have met the most wonderful people. I am constantly inspired every time I read one of my favorite blogs.

I posted a link on my blog for your giveaway too :-D

My biggest accomplishment was getting a new job and leaving one I hated. The company got worse every day so I was getting stressed to the max and now I am not.

My greatest accomplishment for 2008 was to keep my sanity and my Faith while going through all I went through. There was good though, like a couple new friends and many answers to Prayer.
