Creative Chaos!

The majority of the week, this is what my art table looked like...pretty much chaos. I don't have a lot of space. I pretty much have turned my dining room area into a full time art studio...lol. The only time we eat here is on holidays. I'd love a real studio, but I don't think I'd want it totally separate from the main hub of the house. I kinda like being in the midst of things. Unless it gets too chaotic and I have too many things going on at once. I almost always work on several things at once, it just is an effective way of doing things. I can't imagine just doing one painting. Maybe my tune will change down the road, but for now, this is how I roll.
What am I working on?
2 challenges for Cloth Paper Scissors
2 Custom Pieces
1 painting for an upcoming prize I'm doing for someone else's blog--stay tune for this one!!
I'm also working on some small samples for an article I'm writing...that is pretty much due this week but I'm stuck on something so I set it aside...but by sticking it aside, I may be late for the deadline. I'm trying, trying...but something isn't just clicking for me and I don't want to do something I'm not proud of...there's a fear of failure I dont' normally have. Sometimes just putting things off for a bit gives me a new perspective once I come back...if I'm late, then I"m late.

I'm also working on a new batch of magnets for a few different places-I've sold out of my set of blue ones and now am on to a new collection called "Green Apple Sweet HeART magnets"..lol Despite the fact that they are not all green and have nothing to do with apples is beside the point. I liked the name :)

After seeing all this choas, I just had to take back the madness and clean things up. I bought another 3 drawer plastic cart to organize my paint, my sprays and some of my watercolors. Phew...what a relief...

...a relief for all of ten minutes then I was back in the saddle! It doesn't take me long to make a mess. But what beautiful things arise from chaos!

I'm sad that this is my last day of vacation. It's amazing though, I can get more done when I'm working......I guess I just work better under pressure than I do when I have all the time in the world. Amazing revelation.

Hope you have a creative week and pull treasures out of your own chaos!

Hey Jodi! Love your workspace - right in the heART of the house - where everyone can be a part of the creative process and experience. Perfect!
Hope you have a great week - hang in there.

hi Jodi, I think your way of working on many projects at once is smart and time efficient. It also helps your work to have a beautiful flow to it. Who cares if your table is full of stuff, just pretend not to see it, lol!

Isn't if funny how some of us work better under pressure? I've taken days off so I can paint, and I end up on my computer the entire day, kind of like right now :-)
but I do love my internet, so I doubt this will ever change. We just got to work around it.
Happy creating!

Oh Jodi your workspace chaos looks wonderful to me. My dining room table is a mess too. That's where I've been working on my journal pages for Misty's challenge each day. I've got little bits of paper all over and had to vaccum the floor there twice last week. Aren't those little plastic carts just the greatest? I love my new 7 drawer dresser I found. It's reight next to my table for now. I love the pic you took of the new green apple magnets. The texture they look to have is wonderful. I love the name too and the black and white on green really makes them pop. Great choices! Do stop by my blog and read the post for January 23, 24. you are mentioned there. :-)
No worries dear lady, those deadlines will be met because, your vacation is over...... I agree seems you do work best under pressure, some do, some don't. It's not a bad thing, actually a good thing. Just remember to smile and take a deep breath after it's all done. Phew!!

Jodi,
It's so nice to see other artists that work at their dining room table!
I do too. I wonder what our kids think about their crazy artist moms?
lol
Thanks for letting all of us see your beginnings of your new pieces.
blessings,

I loved seeing your workspace! I am sharing it with my wonderful and understanding husband who believes that there is still a dining room table beneath the mountains of painting supplies. I incorporate collage into my work as well. Your aite is whimsical and inspiring and if I lived nearer, I would take a class with your sister as well:) Thanks so much. Great stuff! Great work!
