Zen Houses Opening Soon-Painting Giveaway!

2 More Sleeps!

Yippee Skippy!

I couldn't be more excited to announce my newest online workshop, Zen Houses,  is ready to launch and will be opening on September 6th!   This class merges two of my most favorite styles/themes of painting: My Funky Little Houses and Zen Painting into a fun filled (and robust workshop--over 6 hours of content!),

You'll learn everything from shading, pen and pencil work, sketching,  using a specialty surface along with extremely fluid paint,  to create a water color'ish, sketcherly, work of art.  (I make up a few words here and there...heehee).

I jammed packed this  course with several projects, warm ups, and many discussions where I share insights, tips,  and tricks of the trade.

Here's a few more pics to  inspire you,  so you can get a general idea of what you'll be doing during Zen Houses :

From the Cottage House Chapter

From the Challenge House Chapter

From the Beach House ChapterPLUS MORE!!!!!

One of the many exciting parts of this whole process is watching my students go from a sketch to a fully illustrated painting.  I mean, can you imagine going from this:

To This???

Well you can with my assistance!  I promise I will lead you from start to finish and then some!  My goal is for you not just to recreate my projects, but to grow and flourish as an artist beyond the class room!!!

The sale price for this fun filled workshop ends on the launch date (September 6th), but of course you can jump in at anytime as this is a self paced course.

BONUS--I will do 2 live chats & painting exercises during the first 8 weeks of the course PLUS offer a bonus video midstream of our first few weeks together.

In addition to our intensive warm ups, you will complete 2 mini paintings and 3full size paintings, and if you so chose, I give one final assignment for the truly ambitious.   That's a ton of content for this low  price, honestly you will get your money's worth out of this course!!!

I hope you will join me and over 100 students from around the world for Zen Houses!

For more info and or to register, check out my class page by clicking HERE.

Even if you can't join us, please help spread the word!  I am giving away, yes giving away one of my sample pieces  featured in this course titled, "Home is Where you Are", a 10x10 on gessobord.    The giveaway is open to everyone, but shipping expenses would have to be charged if one of my international friends happens to win.

How to put your name in the hat?

Simply comment on this post and tell me where your home is and why do you consider it your sanctuary...after all, we are all searching for peace and a sense of calm, hopefully our homes are where we find that first and foremost.

If you are so inclined to share this post so that more people can hear about my class, please link to it and come back and comment again for a second entry!!

Drawing will be held on September 6th, 2017  PS...please leave your email in the comments so I can reach you if you win.

Good luck, and thank you so much for all your support and encouragement!!

xoxo

Jodi Ohl

PS....one more  announcement: some of my creative and friends and I are having an auction this weekend online to raise money for Hurricane Harvey victims.  10 of us are all donating a piece of art for the auction and would love for you to support the cause by placing a bid.  The auction starts 7pm on Saturday, the 9th through 11 pm.  Highest bidder at the end of the auction wins. EZ peezy.  You do need to join the event to participate which you can do so by clicking HERE.

This is the piece I am contributing, "Beach Road", which is a 10x10 original painting that I used for a sample during this workshop.
Thank you so much for your support! We need to pull together as a country now more than ever!

My new home is in Saint Cloud, Florida. Just moved there from Seattle. I have an art studio in the new house, so it is my 'retreat' from the busy world. Love the new dedicated space for art.

  11. Hi Jodi. I will be taking this class--my very first--from my home in Kanab, UT. I am a homebody and find that I am most content here with my two dogs and arts supplies. I am so looking forward to this! Thank you so much for doing this.

  12. I live in Berryville, Virginia at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mtns, beside the Shenandoah River. I am lucky to use our "formal" living room as my studio and sanctuary. I do 1/2 of my artwork outside, though, as we live 3 miles from town amongst crickets and cows, bats and owls! Lovely and peaceful.

    Hi Jodi,

For the past 4 years my home has been switched 4 times so I have been feeling a pretty overpowering need to "nest". Once again we will be moving to another state (for retirement) in November but this coming move feels like it will be the best one for us so I can finally put my roots back into the ground. Home is very important to me because it is my sanctuary as I am quite introverted, so, these paintings of homes is especially appealing to me.

  16. My home is a high rise in Memphis, TN. My husband of 7 years today, I lost on April 7 to a 6 month battle with colon cancer. When he got sick, we moved to a One bedroom with same views of the Mighty Ms river and court square park, just not as much space. I am now recreating the space to meet my need to create and manage the living space. He rests in his urn and is still apart of my daily activities. The nuetral colors that he loved are gradually becoming an artistic adventure to suit my need for expression. I miss him dearly, but need to add color to overcome my loss. Peace be with each of us!

I just retired end of August and my home will finally be my full time sanctuary. I live with my kitty Oscar and am looking forward to some cold snow days to paint in my jammies. Thank you for sharing your talent and the incredible opportunity to own one of your original pieces.

I have collected pieces from a number of artist friends and they grace my walls along with my own paintings. I love looking at colorful pieces because they make me happy. I am proud to own several of Jodi's paintings. I can't wait to create some zen houses of my own!

  30. My home is in SE Washington state where unfortunately at this time we are clothed in thick smoke from all the wild fires around us. I was born here but we moved to S California when I was 3. When I was in HS I moved back up here to live with my dad. After a year living back in Cali I came back home. My home is my safe zone. Living with depression and anxiety makes it hard to go out into the world so I have my home set up to be a safe place. My kids live in the area and I have a beautiful grandson here. Even though I miss the ocean horribly (I live in the middle of a desert) I can't imagine living anywhere my kids are not. So this is my home, my sanctuary.

  32. I live in Pittsburgh, PA after many years (40) living on the Northshore of Massachusetts. I never thought I would ever leave the ocean, but a job transfer came along and low and behold, it was the best move I ever made. While I miss the smell and feel of the salt air, I am living a wonderful, friend-filled life here in the Paris of the Appalachians. I have loved Jodi Ohl's work for many, many years and it was only once I moved to Pittsburgh that I got fully involved with Art Journaling and the fiber arts community. Pittsburgh continues to bring out in me, my very, very best!

I have a sweet little house and a tiny bricked-backyard filled with Morning Glories. It is my slice of heaven. It is home.

  37. Hi Jodi! I would like to say my safe and wonderful space is in Arcadia, FL (actually just outside of Port Charlotte, FL) but at the moment with hurricane Irma threatening it doesn't feel so safe and I'm hoping and praying that I do not lose my home or that it gets damaged from the storm. Regardless of the hurricane threat I want to share that I love your Dirty Birds and your Zen Painting...and I can't wait until I'm able to be a part of your Zen Houses. I have to wait until I get the funds, but my goal is to be able to participate before the year is out. What you do is so fun, creative and just plain makes me smile. Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing it with us!

  39. Hi Jodi! You know where I live I think... in the NC foothills of the Blue Ridge in a log home in such a peaceful setting in the woods with a gorgeous mountain view. It's truly my sanctuary because it's out in the sticks away from people and commercialism, but yet close enough to go to "town" when I need or want. Looking forward to the class. I have a busy Fall, but will participate and create when I can. ;)

My home is Leesburg, Florida and right now I am glad I am still north in Wisconsin as my poor home is in the direct path of Irma...one of the worst Atlantic hurricanes on record.
So I am VERY prayerful about my dear little home. I hope it will still be there in October when I return.
