Friday Faves and a Zen Houses Giveaway!

Friday Faves!

Before you head off for a lazy weekend of fun in the sun and toes in the sand,   I wanted to share with you a few of my new (and perennial) favorites that I have in my studio or on my nightstand.  If you've missed previous editions, I've been adding to my "Favorite Product" page for must have items in my studio and home library or gadget stash.   Check it out over here.  In addition to my favorite physical products, I also have a big giveaway going on this weekend. Be sure to read on for more details on how to be a part of that awesome opportunity!

I first heard about this book from one of my favorite podcasts, "The Unmistakable Creative" and immediately popped Jeff Goins Book into my Amazon cart.  What I liked about his style is his point of view that success isn't just about following your passion, it's about putting the work in and changing your mindset to be a success.  Dreams without action will always be dreams.

I don't actually Bible journal but I bought a fun interactive 18 month daily planner and can't wait to use this kit with my new organizational tool.   Believe me, I need all the help I can get!  I've been a little scattered lately and doing a lot of important things, but not my URGENT things.  I don't know exactly why..well I do...but I'm not going to fix it overnight but while I do, I might as well treat my right brain as I fix my left brain :))
Have you joined my Zen Houses class?  This deal on Gessobords is a fantastic price and will be exactly what you need for several of the exercises!   I don't know how many they have in stock so be sure to run over and pick up yours today!

.

Shameless plug!  I know many of you are ready to jump into a new class, NOW, so while you wait for my upcoming online class that will debut in a little over a month, take a look at my 4 new dvds recently launched from F&W Media~

My 4 New DVDs:

1.       http://bit.ly/2maKlSh   Graffiti Grunge Art: Abstract Painting on Yupo
2.       http://bit.ly/2mQWpp5  Texture Techniques for Abstract Art
3.       http://bit.ly/2mQnVmb  Art Journal Jam

4.       http://bit.ly/2nAkSyL  Zen Painting Workshop

And now....

I know you have been
anxiously awaiting to find out how to
win a free pass to my new workshop,
"Zen Houses" which starts at the end of next month.  The process is all very simple. Who needs complicated, right?

First since we are talking about favorite products, I'd love to hear what you are using and loving lately.   So leave me your thoughts in a comment on this post WITH your email or a clickable link to how I can reach you if you win.

BONUS entry-I really REALLY appreciate you sharing the info on this class as it helps me get the word out about what's coming up.  If you would like a second entry, share a link to this post and encourage your following to stop by and enter or sign up right away! To qualify your second entry, come back to this post and leave a comment as to where you shared the class info or post info:)

Speaking of signing up,  if you already have signed up for the course, no worries! You can still enter to win a space in the course. If your name is drawn, you will either get a refund or will be able to gift your winnings to a friend or your own follower for promotion purposes!

The class will begin on August 23rd and is currently on sale at a pre-sale price  which saves you 10.00 off the regular price from now until the class opening.   To read more about the course, check out my student newsletter here.

Winning entry will be chosen on Monday, July 24th.  For every 100 comments, I will choose 1 additional prize winner! whoohoo!

Thank you all so much for stopping by today! I'm excited to be getting back into the artsy groove again, truly it has been a little bit of a rocky road so to speak. I appreciate you joining me on this journey and hope to see you in class next month!

xoxo

Gratefully Yours,

Jodi Ohl

I adore watercolors but I also love Inktense pencils and blocks because you use them like watercolors but when dry they are permanent. I love that!

I'm currently obsessed with acrylic inks. I used to think FW was the beginning and end in this category but Liquitex really gives it a run for the money, and I'm enjoying that the Liquitex come in "standard" colors that match back to other products. Their new-ish muted colors line is driving my creativity to new places - I'm ordinarily a bright colors girl but these muted colors are so sophisticated.

My fave medium is winsor and newton oils and liquin medium! I only discovered liquin very recently but it makes a huge difference in drying time, I just love it! I've been following you for some time now so I really hope I can win this giveaway :) those houses look fantastic!

I have been doing watercolor for the past month and this is a tough medium. I am determined to improve my skills. I love Daniel Smith, the colors are so vibrant and rich! Oh to win this would be such a blessing. These houses are just precious!!! Thank you for this chance, keeping my fingers and toes crossed! Have a blessed Day Jodi! I just adore you!!!

I have been following you on instagram for the last couple of months. I was drawn to your happy colours. I Work with fabrics, but have been tapped out....looking to expand my creativity. I love wonky houses! In the past couple of years I have purchased acrylics and an expensive watercolour set.....and played a little? It would be fun to have an opportunity to be part of your Zen Houses class?

Lately as I have been bullet journaling and drawing, I have been using Spectrum Noir Art Liners. They travel well, too.
And coincidentally, I just bought Jeff Goins's book 2 weeks ago!
I will share this Sweet Repeats post on FB today.

Every time I use watercolor, I fall in love with it again and again. And I'm enjoying water soluble products like Neocolor II, and Art Crayons then mixing them ever so slightly with acrylic paint, in particular white or vanilla. They create such a creamy mixture together.

Thank you for the possibility to win a spot in your new class!
Mostly I enjoy using acrylic inks at the moment, so far I use the FW-ones.
I'd also like to try the Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay ink because I like them being translucent.

What a great post! Jeff Goins name has come up quite few times lately. I think I need to check out his books! The new thing I am most excited about are two Catalyst silicone wedges. They've been available for a while, but are new to me treasure trove of tools. I love the way they feel in my hands vs. a brush handle. :-)

If I'm the lucky winner, you can contact me through pamlacey.com. Thanks for the opportunity!

I'd love to win another Jodi class. I learn something new from each and every one.

My favorite tools right now are my iPad, Apple Pencil and the Amaziograph app. (http://www.amaziograph.com/) If you like Zentangles or just doodling, you can get some super cool results. It's fun to experiment without committing to paint and paper. Portable and easy to clean up, too ;)
